New school information

It has been almost a month since the earthquake and slowly schools and businesses are reopening. My classroom in Wakaba was badly damaged by the earthquake so Britz will be moving to a new building in Onoue. While I am waiting for the new place to be ready I am teaching classes in the living room of my house. Lessons will be at the usual times, meeting in the car park of Marumiya Supermarket in Akitsu. We will walk to my house from there, and return to the car park at the end of the class.

Valentine's Day 2016

February means chocolate-making at Britz. Even the very youngest students are able to make this simple treat, made with cream cheese, cocoa powder, butter, icing sugar and vanilla essence.

Reading Challenge

It's wonderful to see children who love to read. Recently we've been spending time in class doing a reading challenge. The students can choose whatever books they are interested in and spend 20 minutes reading freely. When they are ready they come and read a book to me and collect a sticker for every book they read. There is always a long line and they are quickly filling up their sticker charts!

Halloween parties 2014

There were some fantastic costumes and lots of happy faces at this year's Halloween parties. One of the popular games we played was 'OGNIB', a new version of Bingo, and we played old favourites such as Pass the Parcel, the Popcorn Game, Pumpkin Toss and the Secret Ring game.

Halloween crafts and goodies

We had a lot of fun making loom band bracelets in Halloween colours this year. Loom bands are really popular in England at the moment, and now many of my students are crazy about making them too!

On Thursday my elementary students did a great job. They have a lot of experience with decorating eggs!
Friday... the last day of egg parties, and just as I was thinking what a stress-free week it had been, someone brought raw eggs to class instead of boiled ones. Oh no...
