My Summer
What a wonderful time to be in the UK! Experiencing the magic of the Olympics in your home country is really a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I'm really glad I had the chance to be there. Although I didn't visit London, I got to see one live Olympics event - the semifinal of the men's football between Brazil and Korea. Before the match I was feeling slightly disappointed that I didn't have tickets for Japan's game against Mexico instead, not to mention that Team GB had been beaten by Korea in the quarter-finals, but that changed as soon as I arrived in Manchester and approached the huge stadium at Old Trafford. Almost 70,000 people filled the stadium and the atmosphere was amazing. We arrived early enough to see the players from both teams arriving, and had great seats just behind the goals. During the match there was lots of singing, shouting and thousands of people doing the Mexican Wave. I think it was an unforgettable experience for me and my children.
I've been sharing my photos, brochures and video footage with students since classes started again at the beginning of September. I hope they will feel inspired by the amazing achievements of the athletes at the Olympics and Paralympics and that it won't be too long before the Games are held again in Japan!
